(Book Two ~ Ruby Red Trilogy)

Gwyneth Shepherd was just your average sixteen year old girl just trying to make it through her teen years and finish high school until she is suddenly thrust back in time.  She knew her family was just a little bit different but this? This was not supposed to be her destiny.  Gwen finds herself a member of one of the world’s most secret societies. As one in a Circle of Twelve time-travelers comprised of six men and six women whose history dates back to the mid-1500s, Gwen must quickly learn all she can about the past. Tasked with “closing the circle” by collecting the blood of her forebears, Gwen and her traveling partner, Gideon de Villiers, are sent back in time throughout the ages in search of members of the Circle of Twelve to help fulfill the prophecies and reveal an age old “Secret”.  With help from the Guardians, her best friend Lesley, and assorted Gargoyles and lost spirits, Gwen must navigate enemies in both the past and the present and try to make sense of it all.

I absolutely LOVE this series!! Originally published in German, the translation is flawless. Oftentimes when a book has been translated it can lose a little something. That is not the case here. Kerstin Gier’s characters are beautifully created with more than a few antagonists that I would really love to see receive their just desserts.  The lead characters and their supporting cast are likeable, believable, and interesting. There is always a reason to keep the pages turning. These books are unputdownable and should not be missed!!!

5 Sparkling Sapphire Stars!!!
